Boosting Hanoi – Amsterdam cooperation in various fields

Mr Eberhard van der Laan, Mayor of Amsterdam, was leading a business delegation to Hanoi from December 8th - 11th to deepen the cooperation in fields such as urban planning, water management, energy and municipal solid waste treatment.
On the 9th Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao and Dr. Mayor Eberhard van der Laan signed a memorandum of cooperation and friendship relations between the Hanoi People’s Committee and City government of Amsterdam.
The two sides agreed the principle of cooperation: In the jurisdiction of each party, on the basis of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit, in accordance with the laws and policies of Vietnam and the Netherlands, in accordance with the international agreements signed between the two countries.
Contents of cooperation, including green urban solutions: water supply, sewerage, waste water treatment, management of surface water and ground water, solid waste, metabolic waste into energy, generalplanning, spatial planning, integrated water management, climate change and flood risk management related to the area of the Red River (including Dyke, ready to respond to emergency situations). City’s overall planning, urban management, development of infrastructure, transport and public transport. The smart urban solutions such as intelligent lighting, energy and transport. The implementation of cooperation activities under the memorandum of understanding does not involve the transfer of financial resources between the two sides.
